sorrowsedgecoverBook Blurb:

Finding the truth can sometimes be harder than exorcising a demon…

Jimmy Holiday, defrocked priest- turned- exorcist, is trying to make sense of his life. With his on-again-off-again witchy girlfriend moving in, Lucy- the spirit from his last exorcism hanging around, and a secret organization of exorcists hounding him, Jimmy is feeling the stress.

When a stranger calls in the middle of the night asking for help with a possession, Jimmy is puzzled. Especially when the dude on the phone says he got his number from Jimmy’s old mentor. Too bad his mentor has been dead for several years.

After a mysterious silver flask arrives at his doorstep, Jimmy is left with two options: either ignore the phone call and the flask, or listen to Lucy and travel to Arizona to solve the mystery before all hell breaks loose- literally.

Named one of the Examiner’s 2014 Women in Horror: 93 Horror Authors You Need to Read Right Now, Danielle DeVor has been spinning the spider webs, or rather, the keyboard for more frights and oddities. She spent her early years fantasizing about vampires and watching “Salem’s Lot” way too many times. When not writing and reading about weird things, you will find her hanging out at the nearest coffee shop, enjoying a mocha frappuccino. Visit her at danielledevor.wordpress.com.

Author Interview

Q: Where were you born? Are you the kind of person who likes to move around a lot, or do you prefer to live in one place?

A: I was born in Morgantown, WV. I did move to Baton Rouge, LA, for awhile in 2000, but I ended up moving back home. Guess you can’t get the mountains out of this girl. LOL

Q: What sparked your interest in writing? How long have you been writing?

A: I think it kind of happened organically. I do remember being in elementary school and there being a weekly prize for the person who wrote the best poem. I was really proud when my poem finally got picked. But, I think I dabbled in tiny stories and things prior to that. So, I’ve been writing most of my life.

Q: What provided the inspiration for Sorrow’s Edge?

A: My father is a huge cowboy buff, so when I was trying to think of an interesting setting for the second book in the Sorrow’s series, Tombstone immediately popped into my head. That, of course, left me open for Jimmy to have something to do with his ancestor.

Q: How would you describe your path toward publication?

A: Rocky. I thought I would write on book, get a literary agent, then get a contract with a big publisher. That, of course, is not how things worked out. Now, that is still my goal, but I’m fine writing for small presses too.

Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

A: Make sure that you don’t get ahead of yourself. Beta readers are wonderful things. Use them. Polish your book to the point that you can’t do anything else with it. That’s when you start submitting places.

Q: Name a few authors who have inspired you and describe why.

A: Anne Rice- she started the modern movement of “likeable” vampires in the 1970’s.

Stephen King- Horror wouldn’t be the same without him.

Richard Matheson- Gave us I Am Legend which is IMO one of the best vampire books ever written.

Q: What are you currently writing?

A: A sci-fi vampire book, currently entitled, “Maw”. If you lumped the films, The Warriors, Lifeforce, and Event Horizon together, you will get Maw.

Q: Coffee, tea, or hard liquor? (or all three?)

A: Definitely all three. But, the hard liquor tends to be once in a blue moon sort of thing.

Q: What books are you currently reading or on your to-be-read list?

A: I have a Sci-fi book on my kindle by Sergei Lukanyenko that I need to read. I also plan on re-reading Prince Lestat soon.

Q: And now for the bonus fluff question: If you could be a character in your one of your favorite novels, which character would you be and why?

A: Oh, totally Lestat. I love Lestat. He is just so damn cool, ya know? I mean, why wouldn’t you want to be “The Brat Prince”?

Love your answers, Danielle! And I am also a huge Lestat fan!
