Blog radio interview

My friend and fellow author Alan Zendell and I were interviewed on Giovanni Gelati’s talk radio blog today: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/gelatisscoop/2012/02/08/cindy-young-turner-and-allan-zendell-stop-by

This was my first live interview. Being interviewed with someone else helped, although I wasn’t too nervous. Once we started I got into the groove. Next stop, panelist at Balticon in May!

Happy 2012!

Out with 2011 and in with 2012! Wishing all of you a very happy new year! 2011 was an eventful year, my first year as a published author. I’ve learned a lot, starting with the editing process prior to publication, and now the ongoing challenge of marketing. I’m pleased the book has had some positive reviews so far and hope to have more reviews coming this year. And I appreciate all the support I’ve received, from Crescent Moon Press and the other CMP authors, from family and friends, and from new fans of the book. I generally don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but some goals for this year include:

  • Finishing up Thief of Destiny
  • More author appearances
  • More blogging activity
  • Getting a schedule down so I can accomplish the first three items while maintaining the rest of my life!

Wishing you happiness and success in the coming year!

Happy Thanksgiving

This has been a big year. I’ve finally achieved my dream of becoming a published author. Hubby, who is a chef, started a new job at a new restaurant and even though it’s been a lot of work, it’s been worthwhile. Life has been more stressful than ever, juggling a demanding job of my own, a three-year-old, and my writing career. Yes, it’s now officially a career, and my hope is that one day it may even pay some bills.

I’m exceedingly thankful to all the people who have supported me along the way. To the friends in my critique groups who have encouraged me all these years and never fail to let me know when my writing isn’t up to par (in a nice way, of course). To my friends who have also provided encouragement and a shoulder to lean on when I need it. To Crescent Moon Press for taking a chance on a new author and believing in my book. To my family who have had to bear with my every waking hour consumed by edits and now marketing and trying to find time to finish writing the next book.

Things are looking a bit grim in the world these days. Being employed and able to pay the bills is certainly something to be thankful for. It makes me appreciate the little things even more. I love the holidays for the festive spirit and the joy in my daughter’s eyes when she sees the holiday lights. Gifts aren’t so important. More and more, I prefer homemade gifts, just something simple. I’d rather focus on spending time with loved ones.

So here’s wishing you a happy Thanksgiving and a great holiday season, however you spend it.

ToH is an Eppie finalist

I found out yesterday that Thief of Hope is one of three finalists in the fantasy category for the EPIC ebook awards! I am thrilled and a bit surprised because I never expected to get that far. The first contest I’ve entered the book into and I’m a finalist! Winners will be announced in March 2012. At least that gives me plenty of time to forget about it. Being a finalist is quite an honor in itself.

Not to mention, Crescent Moon Press is well represented among the finalists. Rachel Firasek’s Piper’s Fury is a paranormal finalist and Berinn Rae’s Knightfall is a fantasy romance finalist!
